What changed in 2025
The three-attempt limit was removed following the National Teacher Workforce Action Plan trial. Initial teacher education students may now undertake unlimited LANTITE attempts. The Victorian Institute of Teaching and the Department of Education both confirmed the change.
The fee is still charged per registration, and each window is three months apart, so an unlimited count does not make a failed attempt cheap. It removes the cliff, not the cost.
Resitting one component
Literacy and numeracy are separate. If you meet the standard in one and not the other, you resit only the component you did not meet. A met component stays met.
What to do differently on a resit
- Read the feedback on your statement of results. Since 2025 it names the areas that need work.
- Sit the free diagnostic and compare its strand percentages with that feedback.
- Drill those strands in the Skill Gym for two weeks before your next timed paper. Do not simply sit more papers; the papers show you the gap, the drills close it.
Questions people ask
Is there a limit on LANTITE attempts?
No. From 2025 there is no limit on the number of attempts. Before 2025 the limit was three attempts per component.
If I fail one LANTITE component, do I resit both?
No. Each component is reported separately, and you resit only the one you did not meet.
